The ADAC HEMS Academy

(HEMS: Helicopter Emergency Medical Service) is the world’s first integrated training centre for helicopter pilots, emergency doctors and rescue paramedics in air rescue services. We are the first to provide each of these three professions with a specifically matched training programme.

The HEMS Academy started operations in Sankt Augustin near Cologne-Bonn Airport in July 2009. Consisting of a simulator hall, training and briefing rooms, the training centre is equipped with state-of-the-art media technology and provides opportunities for both individual (computer-based) and group training.

Two full-flight EC135 and EC145 simulators are available for pilot training (FFS Level A according to JAR-FSTD H).

The Academy uses a well-equipped medical simulator– Christoph Sim® – for training doctors and rescue paramedics.
A clinical shock room simulator completes the medical training equipment.
